Primary

The Primary Section at Modern English School Cairo provides dynamic learning experiences where children can flourish in a safe, caring environment.

At MES Cairo, we pride ourselves on our creative approaches to learning; inspiring children to enjoy all aspects of their education and achieve to the best of their abilities. Our teachers are all qualified with a UK or equivalent teaching degree and are dedicated to supporting students' personal and academic development. We have a positive approach to behaviour management, where children are aware of the expectations and have opportunities to talk to adults in a calm environment when they are in need of additional support or a friendly ear.

Manners Matter at MES Cairo, and following the Golden Rules, based on our core values of respect, responsibility and integrity, MES Cairo children grow in confidence to achieve excellence socially and academically.

When starting a new topic of learning, children are encouraged to come to school ready for an “Impact Day”. This is an inspirational event, or series of events that the children participate in to kick-start new learning. We also support learning through our After School Activity Programme. Children from Year Two to Year Six are invited to attend one ASA each week to extend their skills and develop interest in a broad range of activities led by our teachers.

Our teachers ensure challenge in learning is provided with thoroughly planned teaching of subjects, ensuring standards for the end of primary, far exceed those in the UK. Teachers and children are supported in the classroom by equally qualified Teaching and Learning Assistants.

Our students benefit from excellent infrastructure and facilities which include a playing field, swimming pool and several playgrounds. The beautifully planted central atrium, provides a sensory haven from which lead the learning pods, a science laboratory, two computer rooms and two fully stocked and creatively designed libraries, where knowledgeable librarians encourage the children to develop a love of reading.

Parent meetings are planned throughout the year, encouraging parents to talk to teachers about their children’s learning. We also invite parents into school for the parent conference meetings, which are led by the children. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the children demonstrating their knowledge and skills within a specific topic.

We have high expectations for both children and staff working in the Primary School and pride ourselves on providing opportunities and the setting in which to meet them.
